Example Question

Technology is being used more and more in education. Some people say that this is a positive trend, while others argue that it is leading to negative consequences.

Discuss both sides of this argument and then give your own opinion.

The pervasive integration of technological devices, such as tablets and laptops, within educational settings, has become an increasingly prevalent phenomenon. This trend has elicited diverse perspectives, with some asserting its positive trajectory, while others anticipate adverse consequences. This essay aligns with the viewpoint that the augmentation of technology stands to benefit both students and educators.

The advent of the Internet has ushered in an era where students can readily access an unprecedented wealth of information. This accessibility empowers learners to delve into and comprehend a myriad of subjects with unprecedented ease. Consequently, technology is acknowledged as a highly valuable instrument for educational purposes. A pertinent illustration of this is exemplified by Wikipedia, wherein students can promptly and effortlessly obtain in-depth knowledge pertaining to any given keyword.

Nevertheless, dissenting voices argue that technology fosters a deprivation of genuine human interaction. Interpersonal engagement imparts indispensable skills such as effective discourse, adept debate, and empathetic understanding. The absence of these soft skills may pose challenges to individuals striving for success in both professional and personal spheres. Contrary to this contention, it is posited in this essay that technology should not be summarily dismissed on these grounds, as avenues for human interaction persist through online platforms such as Skype and Facebook, enabling novel modes of interpersonal engagement.

In conclusion, despite the manifold benefits of technology, particularly the internet’s capacity to facilitate access to an extensive array of information, apprehensions persist regarding its potential to erode face-to-face interactions. However, a nuanced approach suggests that as long as due consideration is given to the pivotal role of human interaction in education, the positive educational implications of technology remain apparent.

Model Question:

Some people think that secondary school children should study international news, while others think that it is a wastage of valuable time. Discuss both viewpoints and give your own opinion.

Model Answer:

It has been suggested that middle school students ought to read global news, while others oppose the idea and opine that it is a squandering of precious moments. In this essay, I will go deep into the matter before drawing my opinion.

There are a number of good reasons why some scholars think that secondary school children should go through the world news. First and foremost, knowledge about the world makes them aware of their rights and privileges. For example, Malala a school student of Pakistan studied international news which inspired her to write an article in an influential foreign daily against suppression and coercion done on females by the followers of the Taliban in the name of religion. Besides, studying international news from secondary school, children can be practical adults in the future as it helps them come out from narrowness and meanness. Moreover, it helps them enrich their domain of knowledge and make them competitive and fit for the world. As an example, by reading international news, students can come to know about varied cultures, customs, traditions, and norms of different countries of the world and if required can mend themselves to work any corner of the world.

On the other hand, some people think that learners have no obligation to read international news for some reason. Initially, it affects their main business; study to a great extent. As a sound academic background is one of the most important preconditions for a career, students should not waste their time in other work that does not directly add value to their career. Again, secondary school students are not mature enough to distinguish between the right and wrong of international news and this may create cultural conflict.  For instance, many young students of conservative countries of Asia and Africa study international news with the help of the internet, satellite TVs, electronic and print media and many of them try to follow the same in their lives.

To conclude, after analyzing both the views, I would like to opine that children should study international news from secondary school so that they can be practical and knowledgeable in future. At the same time, they should be careful while copying something from other countries in case of culture, values, norms, etc.

IELTS Writing Task 2- Discussion Essay

Model Question:

Many people opine that developed countries should help the poor countries in achieving sustainable development. The others argue that it is the duty of the governments of poor countries to help themselves and their own people.

Write an essay expressing your point of view. Give reasons for your answer. You should use your own ideas, knowledge, and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Model Answer:

The world consists of different countries and nations. Some of these countries are very poor and some of them are rich. the causes of poverty of these poor countries are mainly lack of natural resources, overpopulation, mismanagement, non-industrialization, etc. On the other hand, the magic behind the wealth and prosperity of rich countries are education, skill, a good management system, natural resources, and technological know hoe.

Now the question is how to overcome the poverty of the lagging behind countries. Should the wealthy nations help the poor countries or the governments of the respective countries help their poor people?

In my opinion, rich countries help poor nations. The poor countries are poor because they do not know how to utilize their assets or they do not have any assets at all. On the other hand, the fortunate rich countries have natural resources, or at least they know how to make proper use of their manpower and skill. If we scrutinize the rich countries we will find that some countries have vast natural resources and others have skilled manpower and good management system. For example, the USA has both natural resources and technological knowledge as well as skilled manpower. The people of the USA are educated. Furthermore, if we look towards Japan we will find that Japan does not have many natural resources but it has a very skilled and educated manpower. On the other hand, poor countries like Bangladesh lack natural resources or skilled manpower, or both. The governments of such countries also lack skill and efficiency.

So, in conclusion, it will be fair to say that the poor countries need help from the rich countries this help may be financially or technically.

IELTS Writing Task 2 – Discussion Essay

Some parents think that paid work makes children responsible. others think that it is inhuman to make children work.

What are your opinions on this issue?

You should write at least 250 words.

Child labor is a controversial issue in the present world. Some people think that children should not be engaged in any work. The only job for children is to study. So other people on the other hand prefer to engage their children in work. Those who advocate child labor reason that professional work will make children responsible. They will be able to bring the most needed extra income for their poor families. Besides being engaged in work from an early age they will acquire experience and professional skills quickly. When the other children start work after completing their studies the working children will already be skilled and be able to demand a higher salary.

Those who are against t child labor insist that child age is the time to acquire knowledge. Without education, a child cannot get proficient in work or reach a high position in the organization. He always remains confined to lower-level positions. Besides children are not physically and mentally prepared to engage in professional work. Such engagement in work hinders the proper physical and mental growth of children. Exposure to hardship at such an early age destroys their faith and compassion for mankind. They get hardened mentally and do not have any scruple against doing any criminal or heinous act. In developing countries, we find many child laborers get involved in criminal activities. It should also be remembered that children are vulnerable. They can not protect themselves from danger. As a result, taskmasters make them do extra work. They are also made to get involved in many criminal activities such as smuggling, carrying arms, and drug trafficking.

I personally believe that child age is the age of learning. All children should go to school and get an education. Most of the children who are engaged in work are very poor. In Bangladesh, we see that many people do not have any regular employment. They can not earn their living, live in slums and remain half-fed, and even starve. For such people, there is no other alternative than to send their children to work as they can not provide a standard life for their children. The position of those who are against child labor is certainly right. Child age is the age to learn.  Only we have to make a conducive environment for their learning by helping the children and their families.
