1.    Do as much practice as possible. (Yourself)

2.     Follow the instructions carefully.

3.     Be careful with your spelling and grammar.

4.     You will only hear the audio once.

5.     Read, write, and listen at the same time.

6.     Capitalized i.e. proper nouns and names-London.

7.     Read the questions quickly and try to decide which type of word goes in the spaces e.g. is it a noun, verb, or adjective?

8.   Candidates are allowed to write on the question paper.

9.      While listening, answers should be written on the question booklet only.

10.  The tape generally goes on for 30-35 minutes, after which you have around 10 minutes to write the answers on the transfer sheet.

11.  Singular or plural words. ( A book or Books)

12.  Don’t leave any blank answers!  You do not lose marks for wrong answers.

13.  Read the instructions and questions carefully before you listen.

14.  The words which help you to find the answer to the question. Keywords could be names, places, a number, or a description in the Question paper.

15.  Identify them in the question in the 30-second gap. Generally, an answer comes when any of the above keywords you identified are spoken in the conversation.

16.  Repeating words – Sometimes speaker repeats the words.

17.  Remember there are no half points; an answer is either right or wrong.

18.    Is it 15 or 50, 17 or 70, Freeze or Fridge? Be careful about these types of similar pronunciations but different spellings.

19.  Always write down the currency symbol ($,£, etc.) before the value.

20.  It is not necessary to understand every word.

21.  If you do not know the answer to a question, attempt it but do not waste time; move quickly to the next one.

22.  The exam must be done in pencil – make sure you have a pencil and rubber with you.

23.  Make sure your handwriting is clear.

24.  You have ten minutes in the end to copy your answers. Make sure you copy the right answer next to the right number.

25.  Listen for the specific information you want. (Name, Date, etc)

26.  Try and anticipate what the speaker will say; this will require concentration.

27.  Do not worry if there is a word you do not understand; you may not need to use it

28.  Do not panic if you think the topic is too difficult or the speaker is too fast; relax and go ahead.

29.  Do not exceed the word limit when asked to write no more than 2/3 words in the answer.

Listening Strategy

• প্রশ্নটি মনোযোগ সহকারে পড়ুন। মানচিত্র বা পরিকল্পনা এবং এর বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলি বুঝুন।
• প্রশ্নগুলির সাথে সম্পর্কিত জিনিসগুলি কোথায় তা নিজেকে জিজ্ঞাসা করুন। এটি আপনাকে উত্তরগুলি ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করতে এবং বক্তৃতা অনুসরণ করতে সহায়তা করবে।
• ব্যক্তিটি কোথায় থেকে তাদের কথা শুরু করতে পারে সে সম্পর্কে চিন্তা করুন। তাদের ডানে বামে কি? তাদের সামনে আর পেছনে কী আছে?
• মানচিত্রের প্রধান অংশগুলি দেখুন বা আপনার পথ বুঝতে এবং নেভিগেট করতে সহায়তা করার জন্য পরিকল্পনা করুন।
  ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করুন কোন ধরনের শব্দের উত্তর হতে পারে যেমন এটি একটি স্থান, ঘর, রাস্তা, ভবন ইত্যাদি হবে।
• আলোচনার শুরুটা মনোযোগ সহকারে শুনুন কারণ এটি আপনাকে প্রসঙ্গ বুঝতে সাহায্য করবে এবং আপনাকে আরও সহজে বক্তৃতা অনুসরণ করতে সাহায্য করবে।
• ব্যক্তিটি কথা বলার সময় তারা যে স্থানটির বর্ণনা করছে তা কল্পনা করুন। যেকোন সম্ভাব্য উত্তর নোট করুন, কিন্তু বিক্ষিপ্ততার ব্যাপারে সতর্ক থাকুন যেমন ‘এটি ছিল লাইব্রেরি কিন্তু আমরা এটিকে করিডোরের শেষ প্রান্তে নিয়ে যাওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি’।
• বক্তৃতার প্রতিটি পর্যায় বুঝতে সাহায্য করার জন্য সাইনপোস্টিং ভাষা ব্যবহার করুন যেমন ‘পরের ঘরটি আমরা দেখতে যাচ্ছি…’, অথবা ‘যদি আপনি এখন আমাকে অনুসরণ করেন….’।
• প্রশ্নপত্রে ছোট নোট তৈরি করুন এবং তারপরে সঠিক বানান ব্যবহার করে আপনার উত্তরগুলি স্থানান্তর করুন।

Some Additional IELTS Listening Tips

Now the question is what are the 5 steps?

1. You have to take a test: First, you have to take a test. Cambridge  15,14,13,12,11,10 and Official Guide, you can practice with these 7 books. And it will take you a maximum of 25 minutes to take this test.

2. Magic of Fluency: After taking the test, you have to apply Magic of Fluency in the tapescript on the back of the book.

If you don’t know the magic of fluency, you can find out by searching on Google, or you can find many video guides on YouTube. It will take you a maximum of 10 minutes to apply the Magic of Fluency.

3. Listen to the typescript: After applying the Magic of Fluency, listen carefully to the typescript. But it can not be read here.

And while listening, you will match the cuts you made.

And it will take you a maximum of 20 minutes to listen to this because you will cut out all the empty parts beforehand.

4. Take the Test again: After matching and listening to the tapes, you will need to test again. One thing I forgot to say, is that the answer can not be matched with the test.

Here too it will take a maximum of 25 minutes to give your test.

5. Check the answer and read the tapescript: After giving the test twice, you will check the answer of the given test and read the tapescript well.

Because so far we haven’t read the tapes, just listened. And it will take you a maximum of 20 minutes to match the answers and read the typescript.

IELTS Listening Tips and Tricks(2024)

Many people told me that I took the test, I practiced, but the score did not increase.

I don’t really believe they followed the steps exactly. Because, after giving a test, if you follow the remaining 4 steps, your score will definitely increase.

Even if it does not increase at once, it will increase gradually.

This is because we have less habit of listening to English, but if we listen regularly, it will increase day by day.

IELTS Listening Tips and Tricks

1. The question should be read carefully and the instructions should also be read carefully.

What information is being given in the sentences, you have to listen to it in the listening section.

Be open to listening to different pronunciation types. Check to see if you understand what he is saying. Understanding is half the battle done.

There you will be given instructions in italics, such as No more than 3 words, only letters, and numbers, etc. These things need to be noticed.

2. The questions should be read carefully and the keywords should be marked below.

During the test, recordings will be played to give you some time to think about each question.

Using that time, what is being asked in the question, you will mark the word with a pencil. Y

ou will also notice that when the conversation starts on the recording, it is focused on those words. Then write the answer quickly.

3. Many of us have problems with MCQ. We usually look at the questions and then look at the options. What is the benefit of seeing the option, one of the 4 answers or not?

What are we going to do here? We will just read the questions here and put a line under the keywords. So while listening to the tape I will just look at the keywords and mark the answer.

4. During fill-in the gap we will mark the bottom of the previous word and the next word.

If it is a noun, then it is no longer a synonym. And if it is a Verb, Adjective, or Adverb, then the synonyms of these will say.

5. Another thing to keep in mind is that words may seem simple, but they will not say in a simple way, they will say synonyms or change the pattern of sentences. For this, you need to hear and understand English.

And if your exam is a few months later than next month, not only Cambridge, there are 30-40 more books on the market, so start practicing today with all of them.

Keep in mind that you must get 9 out of 9. If you practice by following the 5 steps mentioned above, then of course you can score 9 or 8+ in IELTS Listening 9.
