Customer: Hello, good morning.

Receptionist: Good morning. How can I help you, sir?

Customer: I want to check in. I need a double room with having attached bath.

Receptionist:  Air-conditioned or non-air-conditioned?

Customer: Non-air-conditioned.

Receptionist:  On what floor?

Customer: On the first or the second floor.

Receptionist:  We have rooms of different categories. What type will you prefer? Here’s the brochure with the description of the rooms with rates and facilities.

Customer: I want an economy class double room with an attached bath.

 Receptionist:  We have an economy class double room vacant on the second floor. The room has an attached bath.

Customer: Please book the room for me.

Receptionist:  Sure. I need some information about you. Please fill out this form. Will you be paying in cash or with a credit card?

Customer: I will be paying with my credit card. Here is my card.

Receptionist:  I am taking an imprint of your credit card. Do you have any instructions about your breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Customer: I will take my breakfast in my room. So, please send the bellboy to my room at 8 a.m.

Receptionist:  Lunch and dinner.

Customer: I have not decided about my lunch and dinner yet.  I will be quite busy. So, probably I will not have them here.

Receptionist:  Please let me know if you need anything else.

Customer: I will surely let you know.

Receptionist: Thank you, sir

Customer: You’re welcome.

English Conversation-Traffic Jam

Scarlett Johansson: Hey Jennifer, what’s going on?

Jennifer Lawrence: Not so good. Traffic jams have increased recently in Chittagong.

Scarlett Johansson: Yes, they have.  It has become a big problem.

Jennifer Lawrence: Yesterday I was going to the hospital with my father. He was seriously ill. But it took us one hour to cover only three kilometers.

Scarlett Johansson: My office is about 3 kilometers away from my house. But I have to get out of the house before 7 a.m. to reach the office before 9 a.m.

Jennifer Lawrence: This traffic jam is a big loss for our time and money.

Scarlett Johansson: It has now become quite impossible to attend any program in time.

Jennifer Lawrence: Keeping appointments has become very difficult due to the traffic jams.

Scarlett Johansson: These jams are intense at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. when all the offices start and close.

Jennifer Lawrence: Movement becomes difficult at that time.

Scarlett Johansson: The main reason for traffic jams is that our roads are very narrow. They cannot load many vehicles at a time. And traffic policies take bribes.

Jennifer Lawrence: Besides, we do not abide by the traffic rules properly.

Scarlett Johansson: I think another reason for traffic jams is the rickshaws. The rickshaws move very slowly and slow down the movement of vehicles.

Jennifer Lawrence: We should remove the rickshaws from big roads and highways.

Scarlett Johansson: The government has already banned rickshaws on some key highways in Dhaka.

Jennifer Lawrence: That should be implemented in Chittagong too.

Scarlett Johansson: More big vehicles like buses, double Decker, minibusses, shuttle cars, etc. should be introduced on the highways as well.  That will lessen the dependence on rickshaws.

Jennifer Lawrence: Many of our vehicles do not have a valid license. They run illegally on our roads.

Scarlett Johansson: The validity of the license of the motor drivers should also be monitored closely.

Jennifer Lawrence: I agree completely.

English Conversation-A Conversation at the Doctor’s

Doctor: Good evening, sir.

Patient: Good evening doctor.

Doctor: What’s the trouble?

Patient: I’ve been ill for the last two days. I have cold and a high fever.

Doctor: What’s your temperature?

Patient: It was 104 degrees in the morning. Now it’s 102 degrees.

Doctor: Do you feel any pain?

Patient: No, I don’t. But I don’t feel like eating anything.

Doctor: Do you feel vomiting?

Patient: No, I don’t.

Doctor: Have you taken anything for it?

Patient:  Just some aspirins.

Doctor: Open your mouth wide, please. Let me see your tongue. Now give me your wrist. Lie down here. Unbutton your shirt. Breathe in. Breathe out. That’s all right. Is there any problem with your bowel movement?

Patient: No, there’s not. It’s normal.

Doctor: I am prescribing two kinds of capsules. Take the first one after every eight hours and the second one after meals three times daily. Continue the medicines for seven days. You should feel better within two days. Come and see me after three days if there is no improvement. Always be punctual in taking your medicines. Hope you will recover soon from your illness.

Patient:  Thank you very much, doctor.

Doctor: Please don’t mention it.
